{"id":2856,"date":"2022-02-25T13:54:21","date_gmt":"2022-02-25T12:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sparkpoint.eu\/ten-ways-to-avoid-answering-interview-questions\/"},"modified":"2022-02-25T13:54:21","modified_gmt":"2022-02-25T12:54:21","slug":"ten-ways-to-avoid-answering-interview-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sparkpoint.eu\/en\/ten-ways-to-avoid-answering-interview-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Ten ways to avoid answering interview questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Generally, there are three types of questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Those you want to answer.<\/li>\n<li>Those you don&#8217;t want to answer.<\/li>\n<li>Those that don&#8217;t belong here.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As not answering a question is often more difficult than answering it, here is my comprehensive list of giving an answer &#8211; but not nescessarily answering the question:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ignore the question<\/li>\n<li>Acknowlede the question without answering it<\/li>\n<li>Questioning the question\n<ul>\n<li>Requesting more explanation<\/li>\n<li>Bouncing the question back: &#8216;Explain to me &#8230;&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Attacking the question\n<ul>\n<li>The question does not address the key topic under discussion<\/li>\n<li>The question is hypothetical or speculative<\/li>\n<li>The question is based on a faulty premise<\/li>\n<li>The question is not facutally accurate<\/li>\n<li>The question contains a quote that has been taken out of context<\/li>\n<li>The question is offensive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Refuse to answer\n<ul>\n<li>Because you cannot answer<\/li>\n<li>Because you do not want to answer<\/li>\n<li>&#8216;I can&#8217;t speak for someone else&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Delaying the answer (&#8216;You will have to wait and see&#8217;)<\/li>\n<li>Claiming ignorance<\/li>\n<li>Referring to policy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Providing an incomplete answer\n<ul>\n<li>Starting an answer but not finishing it (interrupting yourself)<\/li>\n<li>Providing a &#8220;negative&#8221; answer: the politician says what is <u>not<\/u> going to happen instead of what <u>is<\/u> going to happen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Repeating the answer to another question<\/li>\n<li>Saying or implying that the question has already been answered<\/li>\n<li>&#8216;Excusing&#8217; yourself: (&#8216;Excuse me, but&#8230;&#8217;)<\/li>\n<li>Taking the question literally<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, the real deal is the real practice. As you don&#8217;t learn to swim by pure theory, you need practice to be a proficient &#8220;question-answerer&#8221;. And for the same reason you won&#8217;t jump in deep water before being able to swim alone, do a <a href=\"https:\/\/resonanzkraft.net\/medientraining\/\">media training to<\/a> get the practice.
