Prepare panel discussion
Your primary goal in a panel discussion is to make a good impression. This is how you will convince and how you will leave an impression. A panel discussion is not usually the place to develop solutions together. It’s about exchanging arguments and, to a certain extent, entertaining the audience.
Your audience pays attention to more than your words; this means that if you want to convince them, you have to pay attention to your voice, your body language and the dramaturgy of your arguments. And you need to be present on stage and be able to work with yours – this can be a smile to the audience, confident eye contact in the room, confident interaction with the presenter and a relaxed demeanor. These are the factors that determine your impact and your persuasiveness.
Unfortunately, as human beings we are all too often slaves to our emotions – and the situation on the podium, perhaps in front of a large or important group of people, means that we sometimes act out of impulse and no longer have complete control over ourselves.
Good preparation is therefore important: the arguments, the soundbites, the voice, the facial expressions and the posture. A SPARKPOINT training course for preparation covers all aspects for a convincing and successful appearance.
