Christof Schramm is an accomplished trainer and communicator with more than 25 years of experience. He has helped a large number of business personalities and executives of renowned companies to achieve more success through convincing performances even in difficult situations.

His passion for rhetoric, his expertise from working with many of Germany’s largest companies, his extensive capital market experience from many headline-grabbing IPOs and M&A transactions, his experience as a company founder and investor form the basis for successful rhetoric and media training.

He is a passionate businessman with business studies in Mannheim and Toronto and an apprenticeship at Hoechst AG. His first professional stop was Coopers & Lybrand in Frankfurt. After Deutsche Telekom’s IPO, he helped successfully establish financial communications pioneer Dewe Rogerson in Germany. He is also co-founder of the software company altares in Düsseldorf and angel investor in a couple of great start-ups.

“It was November 1996 – I had my first job at Coopers & Lybrand and was in project management for the IPO of Deutsche Telekom. An IPO that is still authoritative in Europe today. The consortium consisted of all the big names and all the important consultants were in Bonn.

The two years of preparation focused on the last two weeks – the bookbuilding – before the planned listing in Frankfurt and New York. In the many talks and presentations of around 20 to 30 minutes in length, it was a question of all or nothing. In this short time frame, the CEO and CFO had to manage to convince investors, analysts and journalists of their story.

A share placement must be successful, because if it fails, it won’t be any easier the next time. An IPO is a matter of all or nothing. Either enough shares are subscribed or the IPO does not take place. Especially in such situations, it is important that not only the facts are right – i.e. the figures, story and strategy, but also the soft skills – i.e. the persuasiveness of the management.

This distinguishes an IPO from the introduction of a consumer good. Management and communicators were therefore under immense pressure to succeed. So we started training sessions to best prepare management for these conversations, presentations and interviews.

After many more IPOs, SPOs and M&A transactions (friendly and hostile), I decided to do what I enjoy the most: coaching!
